Shimano Fishing Tackle Operating Income Climbs 72.9% Over Nine Months
Shimano raised its full-year outlook Oct. 27 after its fishing tackle operating income rose 72.9% over nine months to ¥11.08 billion. The sales raise is all bicycles, with tackle held at ¥123.5 billion, and the schedule leaves fishing about ¥0.32 billion of profit for the fourth quarter by our arithmetic, against ¥2.46 billion a year ago. Either that tackle number is deliberately conservative or Shimano expects winter costs to swallow the quarter, and with North American inventory described as healthy, the first reading is the likelier one.
