Specialty fly shops just got a protected sell-through window on the brand's most important SKU. From Oct. 9 through Oct. 18, only brick-and-mortar authorized dealers can put G3 Pro on the counter before e-comm opens. That is a week of flagship margin without Amazon and the big catalogs undercutting the hangtag.

British Columbia's Firearm Violence Prevention Act took effect Oct. 1, tightening rules on where firearms, low-velocity guns and imitation firearms may be possessed and how they move in vehicles and boats. CHEK News reports Conservation Officer Service in the Central Okanagan had already issued 10 violation tickets since hunting season began for loaded firearms in vehicles. Wildlife Act hunting exemptions remain, and vehicle-impoundment powers for illegal transport are expected later. For U.S. channel readers, the peg is cross-border compliance risk in a major Canadian hunting market during an active season.

Covered plaintiffs can celebrate; uncovered FFLs cannot. The injunction protects organizational plaintiffs, members and customers, which leaves a buyer hunting for a covered dealer before a 4473 path opens. Form 4 still works for everyone else, and that split is exactly what statewide clarification was supposed to end.

A 16+1 double-stack 1911 just walked into the polymer-striker price band. At $599 MSRP for the SC9 XXX, EAA is asking carry-gun money for a platform that used to live above a thousand dollars. If street prices hold near list, every mid-tier striker maker has a steel competitor on the same shelf.

Pennsylvania's statewide archery deer season opened Oct. 3 under the first full slate of Sunday hunting days and a rewritten chronic wasting disease carcass rule. The Pennsylvania Game Commission says 2026-27 expands Sunday hunting to all Sundays inside season dates except migratory birds, and independent coverage counts 12 Sundays across 79 archery days. Hunters may now transport harvested deer, including high-risk parts, anywhere in the state; if the carcass moves, high-risk parts must go through commercial trash, or they may be left at the kill site. Cervid urine-based attractants are no longer banned outdoors, and PGC reported four new CWD detections, three captive and one roadkill in Luzerne County.

Independent analysis of FBI tables shows September 2026 national NICS at 2,000,629 checks, up 3.6 percent year over year, while the sum of 55 state and territory rows fell 0.8 percent to 1,843,700. The gap between the national total and the state table widened to 156,929, more than double the year-earlier gap. Illinois led at 231,920, driven largely by permit rechecks. NSSF's adjusted September sales-proxy figure was still unpublished as of the Oct. 2 report, and the FBI notes checks are not sales.

The lighter gun carries most of the exposure. By Holdover's count, 16 of the 20 recalled lots are 20-gauge, spread across turkey, teal, dove, steel waterfowl and upland lead loads. Shops that sell 20-gauge to youth and upland hunters own most of this recall's legwork.

DOJ dropped the appeal but kept the clock running. It wants more time on the states' scope motion and points to ATF guidance that is still being finalized, so how far coverage reaches stays open. Dealers have a permanent ruling and still no written rules for running it.

Outdoor Holding Co. (POWW), parent of GunBroker.com, said in an Oct. 2 Form 8-K that it converted from a Delaware to a Texas corporation effective Sep. 30 at 10:59 p.m. CT, after stockholders approved the move at its Sep. 28 annual meeting. The filing says the company is in the process of moving its headquarters from Atlanta to Dallas but gives no timeline. Shares keep trading on Nasdaq under POWW without interruption.

The fees are big next to the checks. The first closing's $1.7 million netted the company about $1.19 million after fees and expenses, and a $500,000 cash fee to the same broker now sits beside it. Until a definitive merger agreement lands on EDGAR, Remington's listing is a financing story, not an ownership change.

Rimfire just learned to charge for a purpose. CCI wants $13.99 for 100 rounds of .22 built for small game, in a category where shooters usually buy by the brick. If hunters pay it, every rimfire maker has a template for a margin tier above bulk.

The 9mm can is splitting into two buyers. Titanium and modular for the carry gun, stainless and HUB-mounted for the carbine that eats ammunition. HUXWRX pricing both near $900 says the premium end of pistol suppressors still has room.
