Saginaw Die-Off Puts EHD in Front of Michigan Bowhunters as DNR's 2026 Map Reaches 12 Counties

Michigan DNR's EHD page now lists 12 counties for 2026, Saginaw among them, after an angler reported finding dead deer along the Cass and Saginaw rivers in and around the Shiawassee River State Game Area. A DNR wildlife veterinarian told Bridge Michigan the deaths are consistent with epizootic hemorrhagic disease, and lab results on a deer from the area are expected next week. DNR is asking hunters to report sick or dead deer.
