Pennsylvania Opens Archery With Full Sundays and Statewide CWD Trash Rules
Pennsylvania's statewide archery deer season opened Oct. 3 under the first full slate of Sunday hunting days and a rewritten chronic wasting disease carcass rule. The Pennsylvania Game Commission says 2026-27 expands Sunday hunting to all Sundays inside season dates except migratory birds, and independent coverage counts 12 Sundays across 79 archery days. Hunters may now transport harvested deer, including high-risk parts, anywhere in the state; if the carcass moves, high-risk parts must go through commercial trash, or they may be left at the kill site. Cervid urine-based attractants are no longer banned outdoors, and PGC reported four new CWD detections, three captive and one roadkill in Luzerne County.
