New Jersey Warns Police to Handle SIG P320 Pistols With Caution

New Jersey's Office of Policing Strategy & Innovation issued an Officer Safety Alert dated Oct. 28 telling law enforcement to use caution with SIG Sauer P320 pistols, especially when handling or making one safe during arrests and investigations, We Are The Mighty reported Oct. 29. The alert, shared at the state's request by the New Jersey State FOP and not posted on an Attorney General page, cites the AG's lawsuit alleging the pistol fires without a trigger pull and notes that some federal, state and local agencies have stopped using it. SIG declined to comment to WATM and pointed to its P320 Truth site, which says the gun cannot fire without a trigger pull, while the state's October 2025 suit remains stalled after a July 2026 federal recommendation to send it back to state court.
