Montana's 500% nonresident fee hike is about to be graded

Montana FWP is studying how nonresident hunting affects deer, elk, and bird hunting across all seven regions, with public comment open, following a 2025 law that raised nonresident base fees more than 500% for roughly $7 million a year. The state is auditing its own price increase.
