DOJ Final Rule Lets Gun Dealers Run Free NICS Checks on Employees
DOJ's final rule lets gun dealers, distributors and makers run free, voluntary NICS checks on employees starting Nov. 27, a change NSSF calls the result of an "NSSF-led effort." The proposal was written by the Biden Justice Department in December 2024 and finished by the current one with only a few changes, such as dropping a new ATF form, which makes it one of the rare federal gun rules to survive the handover nearly intact. That gives the trade a safety measure of its own design to cite whenever employee theft from licensed premises comes up in Congress or in court.
