Dakota Lithium's New Owner Leaves Pre-September Battery Buyers on Goodwill Support
Dakota Lithium now publishes two start dates for its new battery warranty, Hookset reported Oct. 26: the company's warranty FAQ says coverage applies to products sold on or after Sept. 1, 2026, while the warranty document it links to, effective Oct. 15, says Sept. 15. That document, issued by Dragonfly Energy, which bought the Dakota Lithium brand and assets July 31, states that "Dragonfly Energy did not assume the prior owner's warranty obligations" and sends earlier buyers to a Legacy Customer Support Program the FAQ calls "a voluntary goodwill accommodation." Batteries sold under the new terms, including the 36V 60Ah and 105Ah trolling-motor packs, carry an 11-year warranty on core battery function, with claims sent to binding arbitration. Rival Norsk Lithium is offering qualifying Dakota owners credit toward its batteries through Dec. 31, according to Hookset.
