Bergara and CVA Break With Federal Over +Peak Rifle Compatibility

Bergara posted a safety notice dated Oct. 29 saying ammunition loaded above SAAMI pressure for its caliber, naming Federal Premium's 6.5 Creedmoor +Peak, should not be used in any Bergara rifle unless Bergara formally confirms compatibility for that model, and it asked dealers and distributors "to refrain from representing any Bergara rifle as compatible with Federal +Peak ammunition until further notice." Sister brand CVA, also part of BPI Outdoors, posted matching language and says Peak Alloy and other high-pressure ammunition is strictly prohibited in its Scout, Hunter and Apex break-actions. Federal's +Peak product page still says the cartridge "is compatible with 6.5 Creedmoor rifles from Bergara," while agreeing it is not for CVA break-actions, and both companies put +Peak at about 80,000 psi. Bergara says SAAMI's technical committee is reviewing Peak Alloy case technology, and neither side has said when the two positions will be reconciled.

Keep glassing.
